I never thought I would use the word "cute" on a monk.
Yes, a monk.
My family and I attended a talk by this monk, Ajahn Brahm, on Monday night. This is probably the 4th time I have heard him. It's amazing just how much sense he makes. He loves to tell stories and crack jokes. His talks are always choked full with people of all races and religion. Just as we were leaving the temple after the talk, we noticed a small crowd standing near the entrance. Like any good busybody, we joined in the fun.
Ajahn Brahmn was preparing to leave. He had to be rushed to the airport so as not to miss his flight. The energy that his guy has never fails to amaze me. As the car drove by us, some people placed their palms together as a sign of respect. Instead of simply smiling or nodding in acknowlegment as per what normal monks do, he waved at us merrily.
Ajahn Brahm: "BYE BYE!"
Crowd: "BYE!!!!!!"
Naturally, everyone waved back. It was such a spontaneous gesture and you could hear everyone remarking "So cute!" as he waved at us. He looked just like a boy in a candy store. I adore him.
